Over the Weekend
Sort of a recap/info/shoutout post about this last weekend.
Cut Chemist & DJ Swamp @ the Intersection :

First of all DJ Swamp is/was a madman on the decks and on the mic. There was no fire or blood, but damn it was good anyway. I checked my archives, and I had a couple Swamp tracks so I offer them to you. Is it really good? NO. Enjoyable? YES!
DJ Swamp-Ring of Fire
DJ Swamp-Demons in the Suburbs
DJ Swamp-Reposessed
Lets check out some swamp videos;
Dj Swamp-Ring of Fire
Dj Swamp-Worship the Robots
Dj Swamp-1996 DMC Championships
Swamps Performance made me really like his music more. I was a not a Swamp fan before, I had seen him perform before (which was nothing like this time), bought some of his battle wax, and bought his cd, but now I am a real fan.
Cut Chemist was incredible. His routine was solid, and he pulled out some fucking Gems! What was the Grandmaster Flash track that he played??????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I was losing my mind. This one is for Matt Poole who stood there like a stone during most of the show (or anyone else who liked Cuts set):
Dj Shadow -The Number song (Cut Chemist Remix)
The Byrds-Fido
** Also the begining guitar from Chuck Mangione's "Hill Where the Lord Hides" was used on the Number song remix.
Now, I will put my friend on front street. The dude I was with who some of you met, Kevin, goes by the name DJ Phizyx. He was part of the Group The Starving Artists Crew . He is a great mixtape dj who made many old school hip hop and electro cds. Here is the interesting fact, Kevins mixes were requested by Cut Chemist himself. Yes, Cut got a hold of some people that knew Kevin to request his mixtape becuase he heard someone playing it and thought it was amazing. Pretty cool I think. Kevin has met Cut 2 times, but never spoke up to say that he is in fact DJ Phizyx. Anyway, below are some tracks that Kevin has worked on.
The Starving Artists Crew-Album Intro
The Starving Artists Crew-SAC Swagger
The Starving Artists Crew-Motivate
And this Flint Hip Hop Classic: The Sons of the Empire Feat: The Juggernaut & Phizyx-Introductin To Poetry Yes, Kevin raps on it.
Shout out to Todd. Sorry I didnt recognize ya homie.

Tigers Game
So about a week ago I went down to Detroit to see a very exciting Detroit Tigers Vs. The Chicago White Sox Game. The Tigers won, we saw Ron Howard and Tom Hanks, I ate Hot Dogs and drank Mikes Hard Lemonade and had an overall good time.
From the parking lot before the game

I love all the tiger statues everywhere.

They also have these statues in the park. Statues of real ball players, you know, like Ty Cobb.

The statues are out by the outfield, right next to a very refreshing fountain.

I had a ticket for standing room only and a ticket for seats right behind home plate. I was even on ESPN. But I moved around a lot during the game, watching it from different views.

I stayed behind these ladies for the last couple innings. They were HILARIOUS! Plus, they knew DAMN NEAR EVERY TIGER STATISTIC STARTING IN1964!!! incredible. They kept a very detailed record of the game.

I really like the Merry-Go-Round.

A view from the Parking lot after the game

The traffic that awaited us.

I love baseball now.

Goin way back...
I was recently at my parents house and I scanned tons of pictures of me being the fashion plate that I am, and always have been. This is the only picture I have of this public enemy Shirt I had. I bought it at some "hip hop" store that was just outside of Genesee Valley mall in Flint. I went there one summer day with a friend of mine, Eric Thomas
Just wait until i break out the Exhaust, Damaged, Subway, Cross Colours and Skidz Gear.

Black and White Nastase (more shoes)
While out shopping yesterday I came across these gems at Nordstrom Rack. Adidas Nastase tennis shoes. These are probably my favorite Adidas shoe ever (But in the green/navy/white colorway).

I love the tongue on these. Why the hell does Nastase look like Andre the Giant?

Here is what I dont understand. Adidas re-releases their second dopest tennis shoe ever made (next to the Ivan Lendl) and Reynolds and sons, Premier, and All city dont pick up pairs to sell!?!?! What gives?!?!?!

Chicago trip

Over the weekend my wife and I went to Chicago for some shopping, eating, relaxing, aquariumsand circuses. You can check over at potluck! for the details of the food.
On the way in the train had iPod ads on every car.

It wasnt really a terribly eventful trip, becuase it was soo hot out. But we had a great time looking at fish and chinese people do stunts.
A big crab I liked.

There was this seahorse thing that I was amazed and disgusted by at the same time (Click here for short quicktime movie)
navy Pier. First time there actually. It was allright, but the novelty wears off really quick.

The stained glass museum seemd oddly out of place at the Navy Pier.

The Cirque Shanghai was really awesome, they had this:

and this:

and these guys:

and girls twirling plates

at one point there was this thing right above my head!
and there were acrobats doing some flippy shit with NO NET and sometimes NO WIRE!
All and all it was a good time, but that heat was killer!

First Track I ever Made

Docboyy Feat Shanrock-Crusades
Back in the day I didnt have any equipment. I use to drive my ass down to Detroit to use Shans MPC at the original Rileys Tavern Studios. I basically traded knowledge of records, breaks, and samples in order to use the studio. This is the first thing I did. I loved it then. Wow does it suck.

Tour of Flint prt 10-Finishing up the Southside

The southside has a really nice feel to it. Its like a suburb without being a suburb. Still smack-dab in the city.
The architecture varies, but a lot is like this:

That weird 60's type architecture.
There are lots of "used to be" 7-11's there.

This is McKinley Middle School. I love the barb wire

This is Applegate Chevrolet. It is an icon around Flint. I had a car from there.

Here is a bootlegger. He waved at me after the pic.

Continue reading for a sneak preview of the next tour of Flint: The East Side.

This is "The alphabet of Manliness" by Maddox who runs "The best page in the universe". I have been a long time reader of that site and this book is the tops. I bought this book on friday. I bought House Party 2 for like $6 at Best Buy. I am all about it. Watched it 4 times already.

Just For Kicks
Just for kicks. Good Documentary. Although, was left still wanting more. They really didnt delve into peoples collections or show to many exciting shoes. It covers some history talks to some people, but thats about it. It could have been expanded. But still a really good watch.

Jim White-The Mysteriious Tale of How I Shouted Wrong Eyed Jesus By Jim White
When Summer rolls around I start listening to this Cd again. Jim White-Wrong eyed Jesus. He has a documentary coming out called 'Searching for the Wrong-Eyed Jesus' and I cannont wait to see it. I just want that shit to come out on DVD so I can buy it already.

De La Soul-Impossible Mission
Just picked up De La Souls new album, or rahter, their new "official Mixtape" . Its got all new tracks plus tracks there were left off their other albums.

To show you they still got it: De La Soul-Just havin a Ball
Dopeness from days of yore: De La Soul-unreleased track

Puma RS-100 X Cubanbee Sacred heart shoes.
