Summer Jams

Its about that time isnt it? It is now fall and summer is gone. I am recapping my top 20 summer jams (plus a couple bonus ones) here for you. Lets get into the list.
First off, I thought this was going to be my jam of the summer! But it hardly got any play....
I dont Like the Look of it-The Backwudz
20: More Soup-Moka Only & MF Doom
This one isnt too spectacular, which is why it lands at #20. But it is smooth and Moka Only really steps up his flow on this joint.
19: Boombox-The AB's (Formerly Asamov)
Boombox is mellow, Boombox is chillin on the porch with a brew type shit.
18: Touch the Sky-Kanye West Feat Lupe Fiasco
Yeah, I know this one is older but it grabbed a slot becuase of a Lollapalooza experience. We were listening to it
on our way home from lollapalooza at about 11 PM. We were taking the Skyway out of town and as we got to
the very top of the bridge Kanye was saying "We're on top fo the world baby!". We werent 100% sober so the
whole thing had a heightened sense of awesomeness. So that is why this track makes it into the top 20 for the
summer of 06
17: Warning Shots-Thievery Corporation featuring Sleepy Wonder and Gunjan
Another older one that makes into this year, and for the same reason. This is a track that Thievery Corporation performed at Lollapalooza and brought the house down with it. I couldnt stop playing it after that.
16:Off the Record-My Morning Jacket
Saw them open up for Pearl Jam to start the summer so this stayed in rotation. Not only that, doesnt a penny arcade seem like a great place to go in the summer?
15: Steady As She Goes-The Raconteurs
Jack White, Bendan Benson, and 2 dudes from the Greenhornes. This shit is great. I always found myself listening to this cd between the hours of 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. At Lollapalooza they were no joke.
14: Cali Iz Active-Tha Dogg Pound
The video for this is what attracted me to it. Kind of a throwback to Nothing But a G Thang , It had al the polular Cali MC's out in force. BBQ'in, drinkin, just having fun.
13: Deepest Concentration-Lushlife
You know, that mellow jazzy vibe. I listened to this one mostly at night on my way home from nights out. I am not sure why he says he is "doing it for the gilded age"
12: On the Radio-Regina Spektor
Shouts out to Rec. Bathing Environments for this one! Regina Spektor is the Feist of 2006!
11: Celph Destruction-Celph Titled & J-Zone AKA The Boss Hogg Barbarians
I just cant believe he raps that long using words that all rhyme at the end.
10: Kick Push-Lupe Fiasco
Kind of an obvious one. This came about 13 years too late for me. I still loved it anyway.
9: Mr. Me Too-Clipse
Minimal and god can Clipse rap. You seen the video? Its great
8: We are the Ones-The Coup
Too bad I slept on this album at first, but I had this track from a sampler. Their live show was incredible. peace to outobol
7: Broken Boy Soldiers-The Raconteurs
Everyone says this sounds like Led Zeppeliin. I have no idea. I do know it fuckin rocks though.
6: Triple J-Shawn jackson, Jaysonic, Jahpan & Mekalek
I really got into these Mekalek Produced tracks this summer. Shit is happy and dope. The MC's can rap too. that is always good.
5: Incredible Feeling-Jahpan & Mekalek
Same as above. This shit is just soo great for the summer. Just ridin'
4: Top of the World-Shawn Jackson & Mekalek
Umm, same as the other 2. This one has a golden era feel. very happy. This song reminds me of Tahitian treat
3: Hand Me downs-Soul Position
Usually I am not a fan of Soul Position, but this one is crazy good! The beat sounds like Just Blaze could have done it. And damn homie, those lyrics are on point!
2: Big Bang Jump-The Office
80's sounding for sure! But I love it. Great band out of chicago. I think I am going to drive down there to see them in October.
1: Poppin Pockets-Grip Grand
I got turned on to this track from my boys blog (he should keep it up more). I usually really dislike Grip Grands work, But this one just hit me. I could not stop playing it. It quickly becme my #1 summer jam of 2006
Bonus Beats:
I think we can all agree that this is pretty much the universal summer jam?
Crazy-Gnarls Barkley
My super guilty pleasure summer 06
Snakes on a Plane (come on bring it)-Cobra Starship
Last year my Guilty pleasure was These Words (I love you, I love you , I love you) By Natasha Bedingfield is that worse or better?
