March 2009 Archives
Some friends and I have made a song for a semi-annual exhibition that is based in London called the Blank Tape Spillage Fete, which will take place...
MONDAY 6th APRIL - SATURDAY 11th APRIL
STORROW HALL, CECIL SHARPE HOUSE
"The Blank Tape Spillage Fete is an ongoing project involving artists and musicians. Participants are invited to fill a blank cassette with anything they want of their own recorded material and then create artwork to accompany it. Other than that, the brief is left intentionally open. The resulting packages are collected and ultimately displayed in an exhibition space where visitors can listen to the tapes and peruse the artwork. The first Spillage Fete happened in 2006, and the second is scheduled to take place in the springtime of 2009."
Megan Downey (of Mt. Gigantic), Lexi and Lindsey Powell (of Festival), Sharon Van Etten (of Sharon Van Etten), and Alaina Snyder (of RAD WIG HOMIES HANGOUT '96 and sporadically singing in fields or the shower) have been so kind and allowed me to employ their voices in a cross-continental project. We have all sung a song which has been compiled as a 45 second endless loop that will be played on a tape player at the exhibition in London.
Be sure to listen to all the ladies' music, as well as the other bands involved with the exhibition... they have come up with a good mix of artists. And if you are in the area, go to the exhibition for me.
"100 Grim Reapers" is now sold out in it's CD form in the BB mail order. We have more of the actual CDs, but not the packaging and I have a number of copies here in New Zealand with me, BUT they are for the scores of Kiwis who don't want a copy (so far... other than hand-me-outs). You can still get a copy at Carrot Top distribution.
Remember, the vinyl version (stock is also dwindling) has a CD with it too. Vinyl is better anyway.
INSOUND.COM has been kind enough to start selling some mail order copies of the BB records. The site seems to have a pretty wicked commitment to finding/providing really nice vinyl releases.
Here are some some links to the records:
The records are still available through the store on this site and shipped out of Grand Rapids, MI.
... you should watch it.
