I have been helping my cousin Katie [this is her, click for movie]:

We have been looking for apartments, and while on the G train earlier today, I saw these - all on the same car:

I took the train to chicago this mornign on my way to NYC. I went to buy a Speed Stick because I smell like shit and I have to meet some friends for brunch. When I got to the counter, I realized MY DEBIT CARD IS MISSING!? So shitty. So now I am sitting on the sidewalk on the corner of Division, Milwaukee and Ashland waiting for my friends to get out of church, using someone's wirless named "007". I called to cancel my card, but I needed to know my last three transactions and the exact dollar amount, I thought I was totally fucked, but then I remembered I had my computer. Thank God for wireless. I wonder if I am using God's wireless internet right now. I am sitting outside of a church for goodness' sake.

[this is where I am sitting, next to this sign]

I am going with my roommate, Sami Mermer a Kurdish immigrant from Turkey seeking political assylum outside of Turkey, to meet with the Mayor of Grand Rapids.

At 1:30 the mayor's office will be full of this:

We are meeting with Mayor Heartwell about Sami's film about homelessness in Heartside.

I have been helping my Oma  move out of her condo and into assisted living for the last couple of weeks - she is 84. My Poppy [who refused to be called Opa because it made him sound old, suggested that his grand children call him Poppy after his favoirte flower] died when I was about 6 months old on Easter morning. I was staying with my Oma and Poppy, he decided to go for a jog in the morning before we went to church - he died of a heart attack while jogging. For some reason I have a special connection/association with my grandfather since this day, I was the last person he saw.

Preparing for the move out of the condo, my Oma came across boxes and boxes of pictures, mementos, even love letters my Poppy wrote to her while he went to graduate school at University of Indiana and she was waiting for him back in New Jersey [she actually gave me some of the letters, I will scan and share soon, as well as many other things I will document and share].

Poppy, aka Dr. Bernard Schaafsma aka BR Schaafsma aka Bud, studied chemistry and went on to work at Colgate, assisting in the inventions of things like the modern-day disposable diaper and liquid soap that turn to foam upon release of its receptacle. After working for Colgate, he was hired by Amway to start their research and development labs [this was over 40 years ago, when the company was first beginning].

Earlier today, I was reading http://news.google.com and I came across an article:

"by Barbara Quint. August 15, 2005 — Over the last several months, publishers have begun opposing the Google Print for Libraries program (http://print.google.com) and grumbling litigiously about copyright issues. ..."

I love google, and everything they do. I hadn't heard of this project yet, and was very interested. I found this:

Kind of dry, but it is my Poppy.

Most of the time when I am reading a book, article or even a blog - I find myself trying to imagine what the author looks like. For those of you who read G-Rad blogs, I have saved you from straining your imagaination. Using a simple Google image search, I have found pictures of all active g-rad bloggers.
{in no particular order]

So I deleted my last blog "Mysteries of Pine Lake and other Tales," not because I HAD to, but because I felt at ease once it was gone.

I was getting about one voicemail a day for about three days from my ex-boss in Charlevoix, asking "OH MY GOSH!! WHY!!? Why did you put secrets about me on the internet!?"

Apparently, one of her daughters found out about the blog from her cousin [the cousin who is friends with the writer for Alias, if you remember my post about cooking them dinner], and then told her mother [my boss] - who immediately flipped out based only in fear of those identity theft commercials.

They are friends with rich people, rich lawyers - Clarence Darrow was her uncle's lawyer for fuck's sake. So, in fear, only based in the trial of Leopold and Loeb, I deleted the blog. Rich people can get away with anything, right?
