I have lived in Chicago for almost three months, and have only frequented one bar [more or less]. It is the Happy Village. The bar is complete with a HUGE back patio that forever looks like the stage for a bad wedding reception - complete with wicker loveseat. But it is not this wicker furniture that keeps bringing me back - it is the PONG.
We have consistently attended the Happy Village on Tuesday nights, where we befriended two old men - Bob and Harvey. Bob is harsh, constantly smoking [Smokin' Joe cigarettes] and frequently brings in lady friends that never exceed the age of 30. Bob has to be at least 70. Harvey is the Rodney Dangerfield of the midwest. The former Detroit-Ann Arbor Ping Pong champion.
[A video of Bob and Graham duking it out]:
I have also joined the Chicago Amateur Table Tennis League - organized by my teammate and a forever friend of Grand Rapids Chad Cumby. Our team is the Paddlesnakes - I am g-raddlesnakes.
i have class now on Tues nights - it used to be Map Room then Happy Village. Now it is class, then sometimes Happy Village.
