shoes blues
Ok. This is sort of a follow-up to the purse entry. I can't find any winter shoes. I'm starting to think that shoe designers all live in places like L.A. or the Valle de Elqui where the weather is always perfect and suede makes sense.
Well, suede doesn't friggin' make sense in MI. But neither does wearing Sorel boots to work. There are certain expectations regarding dress codes (oooh. there i go. bitching about dress codes) that simply don't make sense here. What do career women do? I mean, do they all carry large tote bags with dress shoes in them and then do the old switcharoo at work? Do they find clever ways of integrating hiking boots into dress outfits?
Maybe I'm making this whole problem up in my head. I mean, I don't even walk anywhere.
I think I've been overexposed to Sex and the City, where despite being in New York for six years, shows only 1.5 winters. And during one, Uggs were really popular and Carrie has an outfit entirely crafted from shearling (Why? How?). Then she conveniently goes to France where the weather is more temperate and there's no snow. There is one episode (you know the one... with Friar &*!%) where Carrie is wearing tweedy plaid, perhaps signalling a cool day in the fall.
Interestingly, a google image search for a picture of Carrie in that jacket yielded no results. Everyone's trying to forget that one I imagine...
