Sunday soup is a monthly community meal that provides mini-grants for local small-scale creative projects. $5 buys you a bowl and a vote, the entire proceeds of the gathering will go to fund the proposal with the most votes.
This month will feature a special guest MC, Bryce Dwyer of InCUBATE, the chicago-based group that initiated the international Sunday Soup movement. After our meal, Bryce will give a quick talk about his work... with InCUBATE, the origins of Sunday Soup, and the problematic nature of contemporary arts funding. This lecture is co-sponsored by the Visual Studies program at GVSU Art and Design.
Additionally, this month marks the beginning of a potluck format for Sunday Soup. We will still provide a delicious range of Sunday Soups (with ample vegan options), but encourage attendees to bring a dish to pass as well. If you are interested in making soup, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Our most recent mini-grant recipient is Cirque A Circa, a multi-media circus, who received $260 to execute a mural on the GR Press parking lot surface during ArtPrize 2010.
