Looking for a show but don't see it listed here? Maybe it's at Mixtape Cafe or Mexicains Sans Frontieres, our neighbors up the street. GR Punx, check out GR Screamer.
The Americas
Rooftops
Ambassador
Charles the Osprey
The Americas are an AMAZING 2-piece from Santa Rosa (thereabouts), CA, stopping in GR after their Chicago gig on the way to Detroit. They are currently on tour with the equally incrediblee Rooftops from Bellingham, WA.
Charles the Osprey and Ambassador are from here, and you probably think they're pretty okay dudes.
This show is for fans of Don Caballero, Battles, Maps & Atlases, pretty much anyone who's into thunderous drums and tappy fast guitar work.
I know it's a Monday, but what else do you have going on? Grab some dinner and a couple beers at Rockwell's, and pop on over for the show, so we can get these awesome bands some gas money to make it to Detroit. In return, they will rock your faces. Seriously. Big time.

The Foundations program at GVSU's Department of Art & Design presents a Communal Dinner and Discussion with visiting Artist, Kevin Kaempf of the Chicago-based artist group People Powered.
Kaempf will lead a discussion on community, art, and collaboration.
Kaempf is a member of People Powered, a collective that “designs experimental pilot programs that integrate art, environmentalism, and communities. By presenting these projects in exhibitions and public locations in the city, People Powered creates a platform for discussing how these practices may intersect.” He is also an Instructor in the First Year Program at the School of the Art Institute (SAIC) in Chicago. Kaempf has exhibited extensively, including at the The Smart Museum of Art, the Hyde Park Art Center, Mess Hall, and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. His publications include Beyond Green: Toward a Sustainable Art; Parkett; WhiteWalls. For more information about Kaempf, visit www.peoplepowered.org
Attendees are encouraged to bring a side dish to pass. Vegetarian and vegan food will be provided by Brick Road Pizza. It would also be awesome if you brought your own chair.

The first gathering of Sunday Soup in Grand Rapids!
Sunday Soup is a monthly meal, hosted by the DAAC. We invite guest chefs to cook simple soups and brunch foods using local ingredients. Soup is the center of the meal because it is nourishing, economical, and easy to prepare in large batches. Other dishes and beverages complement the soup. The brunch meal is served family-style and sold for a modest profit at $5/person. At the end of each meal this income is given as a grant to support an artist initiative or community projects.
Have a project that needs funding? Check back soon, more details on how to apply will be posted ASAP!
This project is modeled on InCUBATE's Sunday Soup program in Chicago. learn more about it on their website
This month's soup chef's include:
Hunter Bridwell
Jaime Johnson
Mike Hoyt
There will be vegan options!

This show is presented by The Division Avenue Arts Cooperative and by our gracious benefactor, Sir Hector T. Bolero III.
The Juliets
"The Juliets have created a beautiful, sometimes haunting, and brilliant sound." Media Junkie, December 2009, Also, "This CD is so good I was exercising and dancing to it and I skinned my toe." Kaylan's Grandma Judy, February 2010
Ornery Little Darlings
"Ornery Little Darlings, fronted by Emmi Chen and Jason Ewers, are a new rock n' roll band from Chicago...one can best describe their sound as a highly improbable ornery-as-hell-love-child between Billie Holiday and Lou Reed."
