NO on MCRI

Everyone keeps asking me 'what are you doing now that you're graduated?' - the most frequently asked question to any new graduate. My answer: looking for a job. But one thing I have committed myself to is volunteering for the campaign against the so-called "Michigan Civil Wrights Initiative"- the proposal that will be on the ballot in November that would have a huge impact in the state. Interestingly, its not from Michigan, its not Civil, its not
Right, and its not an Initiative- its an amendment to the state constitution.

Read more about it here. and VOTE NO on the MCRI in November.

Raggedy

So, I'm graduating on Saturday-finally, after five years of school and some 22,000 in loans- I'll be getting my Bachelors in Studio Art...woohoo! I can't help but feel like I don't have much to show for it- though I worked very hard.

After all the ceremonial shit is over I plan to go to my first roller girls bout, their second, at the Deltaplex (of all places)and have myself a good time. (If you want to go- check out www.gr-rollergirls.com). I think that will be an appropriate ending to a strange week so far.

Yes, I was one of the many people who was around to at least hear the twenty some gunshots in Eastown and the sirens and all the coppers. It was pretty scary. Being the Law and Order geek that I am- I immediately ran outside to see what it was- me and a neighboor concluded it was firecrackers and retreated inside our respective houses- only to realize it was real gunshots and someone had been hit- I'm still trying to figure out how twenty four shots came out of one gun or if that is even possible- can you tell I don't own one?

On Saturday night, Ben, Juan, Laura and I ventured to the West side to Wenger's, then Kuzzin's, then Jukes...nough said.

The other wierd thing that happened to me today came in the form of a deer in my nextdoor neighboors yard...at 11am on my way to school- we both scared eachother- it jumped onto my neighboors porch- clop! and darted into the back yard...dogs barked and barked. 'Did I just see that?'

Okay so that wasn't that wierd of a week-but its only Monday- and I have that feeling like things are happening...especially because I am trying to digest the idea of being done with school- I feel like I've been doing it for so long-I just figured it would go on forever yaknow? ha, that would be horrible.
