Remember to Vote- No on the MCRI

August 8 is the Primary Election in Michigan.

Don't be fooled by the so-called Michigan Civil Rights Initiative (MCRI) that will be on the ballot this Tuesday.

The MCRI claims to eliminate discrimination on the basis of race or gender, but would in fact
eliminate federally funded programs aimed at specific groups such as: prostate screenings, mammograms, fair housing and diversity programs, and on and on. This would have an enormous impact on our state and its diversity.

Educate yourself about the impact this proposal would have at www.oneunitedmichigan.org

Vote NO on the MCRI on August 8th.

And make sure to educate yourself from the other point-of-view: Michigan Civil Rights

My only question is this paragraph: (4) This section does not prohibit action that must be taken to establish or maintain eligibility for any federal program, if ineligibility would result in a loss of federal funds to the state.

So basically, if you lose funding because of the amendment (and it's likely that you will), you're free to figure out another way to get it?
