what am i doing this summer?

i guess since i haven't made it clear (chris has pointed that out)...

i'm going to work on a documentary until the middle/end of july.

http://riskthemovie.com

pretty much we are teaching 30 at-risk girls video production and documenting the experience. i'll be living in an RV for most of the summer. i think i even get to drive it! my class C drivers license is coming into play... i knew truck driving around MI would work out in the long run.

yesssss!

i'm excited and it feels a bit surreal that we are leaving on wednesday. we've been working a ton on everything and it's actually gonna happen. i'll try to update as much as possible!

edit: on a scale of 1-10... yesterday my excitement level was about at a level 4 - today it has risen to a level 10! i'm pumped.

new haircut

new haircuts are weird!

they are.

i just got my hair cut yesterday and i haven't had this short of hair since i was a kid.

all i did was ask the lady to make my hair short (but not too short) since i would be leaving in a few days and dealing with humidity.

and this is what she came up with...

right now i need to stop procrastinating and actually clean my room & pack my bags for 8 weeks!

p.s. feel free to call me out on how ridiculous this post is. ...but dang it's a huge change and i like it!

frus-tra-tion now beginning.

can i just be not frustrated with myself?

because that's all i want right now.

i really hate my attitude.

maybe this trip to missouri will help.

i hope.

argh.

frustration you suck.

stay tuned for updates from:

that's one thing i'm excited about!

they call it santa barbara

what a fun weekend!

went to the short stop in east la... where team dress played some pool.

we hit some traffic coming outta la. not so cool.

but it was worth it when we hit the mountains!

and on to knapp's castle....

my baby car was a machine climbing up the sides and winding winding roads!

we then headed over to the painted cave....

after our national forest/mountain afternoon we headed to downtown santa barbara.

where we ran into this awesome man on a unicycle! i was going to take carolyn's picture, but a movie was taken instead....

after some delicious sushi we met up w/ these guys! i received word a few days ago that they were going to be down my way... how could i pass up this opportunity to see leslie & paul!?

we went on a hunt for candy and showed us the stereotypical college town.

picture what you think of college and california and wha-la there you have it! any movie you've ever seen about ca and college could be wrapped up into this town. it was hilarious!

carolyn busted a move....

and good music was had near the end of the night...

paul
even got leslie to sing barberella!

ah yes. good michigander times over the weekend.

thank you carolyn for being the tour guide through these photos!

to come to michigan for a visit. seriously.

i need it.

home sweet home how i miss theeee at the moment.

how's everyone?

hopefully (crosses fingers) i'll be there for the first week in july, july!

there are certain things though that i really want to do here in cali. my list includes:

1) see a show at the hollywood bowl.
2) go to the griffith observatory after all the fires are put out.
3) take a bike ride down by the ocean.
4) discover new places.
5) go see the groundlings.
6) go up north to northern cali.

...i know there are a few others.

edit: 7) to listen to some live jazz music. yes!

but really - home just sounds good right now.

the saltine crackers that they distributed in the middle of the night.
crackers

displace me

the morning after.
good mornnnning

it was a good event for awareness. we did though have a moral dilemma around 1230am of wanting to go home and sleep.... we stuck it out though and woke up around 630am and went out for breakfast.

i was pretty exhausted all sunday/monday.

people wrote letters, videos were played, it was good to support uganda on a small scale.

i just really need to go travel and document stuff.
