eagle boys 1

While in New York last semester I became friends with a painter named Brian Dulaney. His website seems to be down, but you can check out the gallery he shows at, it's called RARE. Even though we work in different mediums (I tend to be careful to not call myself a painter) we were excited by each others' work and found some common ground. Brian had the idea to collaborate, which unfortunately didn't come up until a few weeks before I had to go home to Grand Rapids. So we've decided to make use of snail mail. I sent him a few little things about a week or two ago (one pictured above). I can't wait to see what he does. Knowing him, the two eagle-head boys will probably become even more comically grotesque. He has a way with that.

In the meantime, I'm excited to be starting classes again at Calvin. I have advanced painting and an independent study. As with last semester I'll be tracking my progress and influences on this blog. It tends to function as a sort of digital sketchbook for me, since I've never been one to keep very interesting real sketchbooks.

It will no doubt be a busy semester. Apart from scrambling to get all my graduation requirements taken care of, I’ll have to prepare for the BFA show in May, and for my wedding, which will be in the beginning of June. We’re having our reception in a hundred-year-old barn, and while that may sound lame, it’s not, it’ll be really great. We checked it out for the second time last weekend. There are two goats that live in the basement. That’s right, goats.
