Gaucho pants started showing up in other cities last summer so naturally the GR Girls are rocking these ridiculous looking shorties.

Maybe the plant! people would be interested in the Tulip Skirt, which I am told is a fancy new skirt cut. Be warned, these skirts look pretty harmless in the store...

but they make you look an awkward equestrian when you wear them.

I'm not really sure why these clothing manufacturers are intent upon making women's lower-halves look like the funhouse mirror reflections. Actually, the most plausible explanation I can think of is that somebody still had a shitload of Hammer pants from the 90s and found a couple of creative ways to get rid of them.

dawg, those gauchos joints are horrible. I mean, I hate to say things like this but girls wear em and it rides up their butts and makes they legs look huge. And after a couple washes they look super raggedy and jenky.

I'm sorry to say that I was at McFadden's last week and all the girls were in goucho pants. I'm no snob, but that was enough to turn me off the them without even giving them a chance.

I also don't like gaucho pants. They are very unflattering and seem to have no purpose, in a few months they will surely be a known waste of money and fabric.
I do like tulip skirts though, but that's because I like my skirts to be below the knee. I just get bothered when fashions are taken to extremes.

My question is: Who the HELL are gaucho pants made for? They don't even look good on models! Now I don't mind short pants, clamdiggers, say, or even 50s style shorts, or even gaucho-ish pants made out of a sensible material, but these stretchy, flowy things are completely ridiculous. And you know what really kills me? That people wear them with those huge wide belts... it's as if they don't want to stop with making a girl's ass and thighs look big - let's complete the job and accentuate those birthing hips.

These things are basically culottes. Except uglier! How is this happening. I might have to do a follow-up post on my own blog...

Gauchos as Argentine cowboys are good. Gauchos and other various attempts at Oompa-loompa couture (Gene Wilder era, not Johnny Depp era) are bad.
