Jon-Paul, San Diego

Jon-Paul also attended the Defense Language Institute where he learned Mandarin Chinese. He just returned from my year tour in Iraq and will continue to finish his BA in International Business with focus in Asian studies.

Where do you now live?
San Diego, CA

Why did you leave Grand Rapids?
I left to attend college closer to the area I wish to work in, i.e. the Pacific. Also i was in a particular place in my life that required change, and since my mothers family lives in SD, I chose to move in the summer of 2001.

What would Grand Rapids have to gain in order for you to return?
beautiful beaches and 360 days of sunny weather.

Do you love or hate the Devos family?
They are personal friends of our family, as my grandfather is the former city manager of Grand Rapids and later worked with them via the international business arena, therefore i would say i like the devos family, and everything theyve done for the city.

Your favorite bar/hangout in Grand Rapids?
San Chez A Tapas Bistro

What is your most amazing memory of Grand Rapids?
coming home for my mid-tour leave from Iraq to Grand Rapids and spending time with my father and that side of the family.

Kava House or Common Ground?
never drank coffee much

East side or West side?

What do you miss about Grand Rapids?
my father, and the food from San Chez.
