WORD ON THE STREET 19

Hello everyone!,
Sorry I am late this week….. it was all that snow… snowing…I wanted to thank everyone who wrote letters last week to Michael P. Flanagan, the superintendent for Public Instruction. Look at the bottom of the page cause there is some info about the Fellowship opportunity… I am going to keep including these opportunities… at least until someone tells me that they got a fellowship or job out of it… and then I will probably keep doing it anyway….ENOUGH OF THIS CHIT CHAT LETS GET TO THE GOOD STUFF!

Here is the Word on the Street for November 16, 2005

Tanglefoot is having their annual Studio Show which starts Friday and runs all weekend. The reception runs from 6-11, In case you are wondering where Sanctuary Folk Art is it is on Division, at 140 S. Division.

Alright someone explain to me who is running 280 Studios? I am so curious… well whomever it is working with the UICA to do Art Battle 5 on Friday yep and there is a 1,000$ prize for whatever happy soul wins… so if you forgot to register as an artist or you feel like to flexing some American Style Democratic choice, stop by the UICA from 8-11 pay 10$ to eat, booze, and VOTE for your friends…. ( or people you think are good) there are also a bunch of bands that were going to play at the DAAC that are now playing at the UICA…

November 18th, 2005 if you are more in the mood for some music check out Draggin’ Anchors w/ Nobodys Darlin’ at Jukes… I Think the inside of Jukes is great, lots of Album covers in Frames, and as a music Geek Friend Pointed out none of them are bad albums, and most are the music geek classic..… last time I went the opening band was great but the second was LOUD… so be prepared….
I also saw the owner out and about like three times last week… so that must mean something…?

GET INVOLVED
As we all know, the Arts are alive in Michigan but is a constant fight to keep them alive in our public schools, to provide and educate the public about creative thought, and there is no where to start then the bottom up I did a bit of research and found a few links about how the arts encourage growth in children and was pointed to a few sites by Beth L. So I wanted to thank her and pass those on. If you have not written a letter yet, please take a few moments to drop a line in of support mandatory art in the public schools, the address you need to send it to is
