The Lowell Areas Arts Council is accepting work for the "Icon Show," friend and local art icon herself Kelly Allen is a part of jurying and hanging the show So she has described the show’s criteria as to create a piece in any media, that expresses the essence of your work. If you have a logo, trademark color, pattern, music chord, phrase, etc. It's your personal icon if you want more info about the show email Kelly or check out the Lowell Area Arts Council

The South Haven Center for the Arts is calling for entries, for their 2006-07 season, Group and Solo Exhibitions! They accept slides cd’s ect, with support documents and you can send with a return envelope and postage to

And I thought that this might be cool, the Almont Mural Project ( SE Michgan) is looking of an artist for an outdoor mural, they are looking for an artists to paint and design the mural for spring or summer of 06- there is an undetermined theme??? But if you are interested email Marian Devereux.

This is a bit of feedback from Sean…..”I wanted to plug a show at the UICA tomorrow (Saturday Dec. 10th). I've heard Windy & Carl and they're fabulously experimental in their soundscapes. I don't know the Flatland Collective at all so I can't vouch for them, but just knowing Windy and Carl will perform makes it a must hear.”

Also something to keep In mind is that the Women’s center at GVSU does a call for art in the Winter for a display at the Women’s center, also they do a fundraiser in February on the 2nd so if you are looking for a tax write off you can donate quality work, and help out their silent auction event… but please remember the work needs to be quality, not quantity, and it the starting bid can’t be crazy otherwise it won’t get auctioned… if you have more questions email Ashley at

Now Word on the Street is online at or you can go to G-rad and then access it through projects…. AS Always (PLEASE) you can post comments and all that good stuff so check out G-rad. If you know of something interesting going on in the area, or have a review of and event that you attended and want to share it, drop me an email at or

I love Bob Dylan and can’t wait to go Christmas shopping……
Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom
