JULY 26, 2006

Hi everyone!
This week the weather hasn’t been all that great, but hopefully this weekend we can all find some great stuff to do to keep cool and chill out. In the meantime I wanted to ask everyone for suggestions to cool likes, if you have a website, blog spot or online project I want to look at it. And then maybe I want to share it. I am interested and looking for some new stuff to check out. I spent about 2 hours on youtube the other night… now I want to see what else is out there. Send me suggestions…… other then that

Here is the…
Word on the Street for July 26, 2006

This Thursday Portable cinema is showing American Graffiti, appropriately on the Graffiti wall……. So the show starts at 9;30 ish, bring a chair cause this is a parking lot event. The Graffiti wall is located at 105ish Sheldon ( corner of Sheldon and Cherry a block east of Division) and I think they are going to paint a screen onto the wall so it should be sweet. The wall itself is ever changing and really cool…… so come and see a classic….. For free….

On July 27th ( Thursday, as in tomorrow, there is a Trunk show at City Knitting including a Prize Raffle….. The trunk show is from 7-9pm. They are showing samples from a new book called One Skein ( a Skein is the ball of yarn) and new pattern samples from a sweater designer… and the raffle prizes include a copy of the Book and some patterns, and last but not least there are refreshments. City Knitting is located on Norwood right behind Wolfgang’s.

Also this Thursday there is a show at the DAAC ( which we now have air conditioning!!!! So awesome, if you have ever sweated through one of the shows and thought you might actually keel over in the space you know why this is such big news.!)
Anyhow the show is FBS, The resistance, and Double Whammy.

This Friday the 28th the DAAC is hosting a band from Texas, ANS along with Fuck this, and some one else ( no really like there is someone else playing but they haven’t listed it yet)

I know that a lot of people like Strangers with Candy. I am not one of them BUT… I thought I would pass on that the UICA is Showing the Strangers with Candy prequel movie this week and there are only three showings Friday the 28th, at 2:30. 7:00 and 9:00 Pm. Then Saturday 2:30-7-9 and 11PM
And last Sunday at 2:30 so check it out on the movie Website: http://strangerswithcandymovie.com/

Just to get us started I thought I would pass along this site.
It is a website for the Avenue for the Arts Martienau apartments. So check it out tell me what you think. http://web.mac.com/plasticson/iWeb/Avenue%20for%20the%20Arts/Home.html

Also I wanted to do a shameless self promotion, this week is the last week of the Telephone show at the ByneBoem Gallery, if you haven’t checked out the show yet there were a whole mess of us involved, the show turned out pretty well, and I was pretty happy to be involved with it. So check it out, the gallery is located at 959 Lake Drive SE Grand Rapids MI and for open times call Kevin at 336 0209, they have normal hours I think from 11-4 pm m-sat and Tuesday-Friday 11-6….

The Grand Rapids Symphony is having a picnic Pops event that has a Led Zeppelin theme and they are looking for artists to set up Demo Booths the night of the show. There are two shows the 3rd and 4th of August and you get to see the show for free. I am looking forward to it Jones and I are getting a project together to make actual Led Zeppelin themed work on site it should be a really great time…..
