Hi everybody.....
Ahhh the smell of school is in the air, new sneakers, pens and notebooks, hundreds of dollars in books and supplies.... How I miss it already.... There is something golden about the pre class jitters for the first day....Well for all of you who are back at it, enjoy... if you are headed out of town for labor day enjoy .... And for the rest of us I guess it just frees up some time to get out and check out the great events in GR!

Here is the Word on the Street for August 29th, 2007

Thursday
Beginning Thursday night in Holland you can catch the Tulipanes Latino Art and Film Festival, featuring music, Film poetry, live performance, visual arts workshops and entertainment. I would head to downtown Holland to find out more information and pick up a performance schedule. I believe this runs all weekend.

Also on Thursday night get ready for the show that Mirf has been excited about all month... Showbread is playing at Skelletones with "Doctor!Doctor!" and "The Skies Revolt" the show is 7$ at the door and according to Mirf Showbread is totally awesome, and I hear good things about The Skies Revolt as well.... So.... Yeah, gotta love it.

August 30th (Thursday) there is something at the Wealthy Theater called "Dance Attack" I have no idea what this event is, but I know that doors are at 7 and the event begins at 7:30... so if you are planning on going here is a reminder, if you go and find out what Dance Attack is all about drop me an email, I'd like to know.

Friday - seriously! no one is doing anything so throw a steak (or veggie burger on the grill) or head to your favorite watering hole with friends.

Saturday
Saturday night is you are looking for some free music and a pretty happy bunch of people check out the free show by the 6th Street bridge. "June Madrona", "ben and Bruno", "Clear Days Always" and "Hot Tapes" are playing sometime shortly after 6pm.

Saturday night is the first night of September! WHOA! And there are 5 bands rocking out the DAAC, "check out "the State", "Fuck this", "the US Beat" Noosebomb" and "Corrosive Kids" if you are getting ready to plan your social calendar for the year check out the DAAC.org for current show listings.

Saturday night a Skelletones catch "through the eyes of the Dead", "As Blood runs Black", "Ion Dissonance", "beneath the Massacre" and "Dissonant" I really like that Ion Dissonance is playing with Dissonant.... Doors are at 6pm, and tickets are $12 you are going to want to get advanced tickets for this one (usually on sale though the website www.skelletones.com)

By the way Saturday is a big Happy Birthday to Audrey Chapman this weekend, hope you have a total blast on your birthday (if you know Miss Chapman make sure you drop her a line and wish her a very happy Birthday)

Monday

Monday is Labor day and there is a parade in downtown Grand Rapids, the parade runs along Fulton by GVSU headed to John Ball Park. And there are a whole bunch of fun things going on at the Park after the parade including hotdogs, speakers, activities for kids. Beverages, and of course and arts and Crafts display.... YEAH! Fun.

After the festivities or grilling on September 3rd there are 3 bands playing at the DAAC (coincidence 3 and 3? I think not!) anyhow the bands are "Captin Ahab", "Realicide", and "These Are Powers"

Seriously I am still trying to sell my car.... Please someone buy it..... I'll sell it for pretty cheap.... I just put new tubes in the tires, got an oil change and fixed the muffler......
