This weekend is stellar! I am not ready to call it fall yet so I am considering this weekend an end of summer weekend....So get out and get your end of summer loving in while you still can!

THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 10
Founder is hosting a something a little funky on Thursday night. Catch Roots of creation, Roots Rock and Sound Hound. This show was recommended by Joe!

Celebration on the Grand is stretching out over the weekend beginning with a Taste of Downtown on Thursday at the Mya Lin Elipctic (Aka Rosa Parks Circle) munch on treats from San Chez, Cottage, Jimmys Ribs, XO and Tre Cugini.
Location: Monroe Center and Monroe Avenue.
Cost: 1-5 for treats, free for hanging out!
Artist reception at the Forest hills Fine Arts Center! James Johnson will be meeting guests and avaiable to answer questions about his work from 6 until 7:30 pm! His watercolors feature local and regional scenes. The are pretty selly but the man can paint and he has a good eye for leaving raw paper exposed.

FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 11
I managed to miss both the Mexican Heritage Association Festival and the Polish Festival so this weekend I am going to do my damnedest to hit up the Hispanic Festival this weekend on Calder Plaza. Starts on Friday with music, art and food!

The Semi Annual Beerhorst Family Art Show is happening this weekend, Rick is painter, Brenda is Textiles, the kids are bursting with creativity. The house is a virtual treasure trove of goodies. Starts at 10am on Friday and goes until 8pm.

Cost: Free, but bring your check book and buy some art!
Friday's Celebration hot sport is definitely going to be along the river because it is fireworks time! Ah Nab Awen will have food vendors featuring the of the grab and walk variety, dog, tacos that sot of thing! Bands along the river start at 5 and feature a local line up, Ralston Bowls, Nomad Willy, Glean Infusion and Organissimo.
Bands at the Elliptic include Hank Mowry, R&B Company, Esparza Blues Experience, Lynn Thompson Band and Jimmie Stagger.
Cost: Free tunes, $ for munchies!
Pop scholars is back at Dog Story Theater, supposedly a laugh-o-matic performance, 4 duded sketch comedy. Show doesn't start until 9:30pm! And you can pre purchase tickets for just $5 on the website dogstorytheater.com

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12
Vertigo peeps have the MOST fun. On Saturday Vertigo is inviting all of their peeps (yes this means YOU) to get together and enjoy some awesome local music in a totally rad atmosphere. Also just a tip... last time they had an event Herm specially released items for the day of the event... so that there were new albums on reserve especially for that day! Because we all know the best way to celebrate back-to-school is with new music! Bands include Skeleton Party, The Concussions, Mother nature, My new Black Tooth, Valentiger, DJ Crooked Leg Craig, Draggin Anchors and Grrropolis! A portion of the proceeds go to the DAAC.
Does it get any cooler then that?

Saturday early head downtown early for Celebration! There is going to be a Corvette show along Monroe Center and bands at the Elliptic include School of Rock, Left Hand Daisy, Rocket King, Midlife Crisis, Concussions and Edgar Winter.

In the evening head over to the Avenue for the Arts from 4 until 9pm for the Final Avenue for the Arts Market. There are going to be A BUNCH of vendors with sweet gifts, awesome t-shirts, cool house wears and a whole bunch of paintings and photos.
And the entertainment is rocking Glean Infusion, Belly Dancing Soloist Rommnya, Acoustic Singer/Songwriting Kurt Dension, Ballet Folklorico Guadalupano, Fusion Drum Ensemble, Bijoux Dance Ensemble, The Drews, The Fainting Generals

GIANTS is an ART show that will be taking place in numerous locations along South Division on Saturday. They will have 2 booths at the market, as well as, a hopping exhibition in 106 South Division in Vitos place ( #215) the show is featuring a bevy of regional designers and includes original prints, artwork, Live music and a DJ or two! 4-9pm!
It has been a long time coming. Jeff Vandenburg is having A SOLO ART SHOW at the 'Stache Gallery. Once you see his work you will recognize it. (the mural at the patio behind Meanwhile) See a slew of new paintings and say HI to a great dude.

The BACK 2 School Party at the DAAC starts at 8pm and goes until midnight. You are going to catch Kryptonite, Prophet the Revolution, Booties Mane, Dante Cope, Jo Da Butcha and more! It is going to be a throw down of an evening!

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 13
Check out the Fulton Street Artisan's Market! They have been full up for a few weeks now and it is looking good! Vendors from all over west Michigan will be showing off their wears and hanging out!
Location: intersection of Fuller and Fulton
Come and share a little DAAC love from 12 until 2 help clean the DAAC! Bring a buddy some gloves and what ever odds and ends cleaning supplies you have laying around (put that ¼ bottle Windex to good use!) A great way to get connected to members and find out more about the DAAC!

Sunday night at the Mixtape there are a bunch of bands including City Lights, Rattle Candy, Victory Victory, and a Letter to You! Show starts at 6pm....
