more walking

day two:

morning finally came and the fairies woke me up but they woke me up really to late. it was 10:30 when they woke me. i saw that it is a nice day out so i said the fairies lets go out side and read. i took the fairies outside and we went over by the biggest tree and we sat down in the grass and read books. but then the squirrels came and we watched the squirrels search for food for the winter. i told the fairies that the squirrels were so nutty! i told them about the time i made the squirrel my friend. i told everyone how we ate apples together and we stood in the park and talked telepathically because squirrels cant talk english.

when we were finished reading i told them the fairies that we would go on an adventure. we went for a walk. we followed the street and cars drove by and the fairies wanted to take the bus but i said i like walking but i like riding by bike too but i have a flat tire. but the fairies promised to fix my tire.

soon we were to the forest that separates the super roads. i told them we could sneak through the forest but if we sneaked we would half to be super sneaky because the forest was full of misguided souls* so we snuck super sneakily untill we made it to the other side. by now the fairies were very tired so we took a long break. while we rested i told the fairies about all the boys and girls that play ball games on the big field we passed earlier. and i told them i would soon take them to the secret lair of the forest souls...

walking walking touring

day one:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

we were just magically teleported into my room by a very nice magician we met on our holiday trip to antartica. it was very cold there and the plane was broken down so he said he would get us home so we werent cold. i was the only person with a shelter because fairies dont have houses (that is why we are here in my room). since we didnt have anything to do, i decided to take all my friends on a tour. first i showed them around my room. the fairies didnt like my room though because it is smelly. i think it is smelly too.

first i told the fairies about how jose fell out the top bunk one night so now he always sleeps on the couch. i showed them all the neat books i keep on the couch when jose isnt sleeping there. then i showed them my posters. i told them that the danzig one was my favorite but they just laughed at me. next i showed them where i play music. !on the floor!!. everyone thought it was funny that i sit on the floor, but i told them that sometimes i sit on my bed too. after that they all went through all the papers on my desk and and they listened to cattle decapitation with me. and then i thought it would be fun to make a carnival for all the fairies. so i made the turntable into a merry go round and i made a slide and a petting zoo. we had fun. by the time the carnival was over it was time to go to bed. so all the fairies got into joses old bed and i tucked them in for the night and told them about all the great adventures we would have in the morning!

riot folk

i stumbled into quite an amazing time tonight. it started out with a bus ride

The Bus Ride:

i ride the bus sometimes because the bus system is pretty decent here in lansing. but i usually dont have the patience to wait for the bus i need to get onto, so i just hop on any old bus and take as close to my destination as possible, but then i usually miss that closest point so i ride the entire route back to the point i missed. this usually turns a 5 minute ride into a 34 minute extravaganza. but today i got on the number 1 bus and rode it downtown. i was on my way to magdalenas tea house for a show a couple kids on the street told me about. forgetting what street i had to get off at, i hopped off when i felt close and walked until i saw it. around a four block walk.

The Talk:

i walk into the doors and they ask for a donation so i give them the dollar i was going to use to ride the bus back to my dorm (about a 40-50 minute walk). i go sit down and they talk. the talkers are part of the uprise tour. they are on a 20 city journey talking about Counter Recruitment. they talked for a couple hours and showed some video clips from "SIR, NO SIR" a documentary about soldiers of vietnam opposing the vietnam war, and just from the clips they showed, it looks very good. they told stories about iraq (one member of the group was a soldier for the past 4 years) and they told a lot of "what is really going on" and they spoke about globalization and how all the money made from oil in iraq is just put in the hands of american companies. and how EVERYthing is privatized there. they made many parallels with the vietnam war, mostly having to do with activism. and they brought up many things that i never even thought of. the biggest being that in order to effectively stop the war, we cant protest by ourselves, we need to befriend iraq veterans and soldiers themselves. the anti war activist cant be anti soldier. they have to work together. they also touched on some numbers about the number of awols from the iraq war and the number of people just refusing to fight(they were surprisingly high). with out soldiers there is no war.

and on a side note: on my way to the show, i lost what i little faith i had in the democrats.

Then the Music:

Ryan Harvey: this guy is one of the organizers of tour and also a folk singer. and a pretty fucking good one too. super politically charged folk. with an energy and amazingness and passion unlike anyother i have seen.

and then The Boxcutters: they were supposed to play first but they forgot shit and had to run home. and then they played an "i wanna be against me, but i also only want to sing and masturbating and our drummers huge penis, but dont fuck with us because we are fucking punk rock" set. filled with johnny cash, against me, and shitty originals about nothing at all

The Begging:

i went outside to go back to my dorm i wanted to take the bus but i had no change. so i asked. and the friendly people gave me a dollar and forty cents. (that means i made forty cents today!!) then i walked to the bus stop, only to realize that the bus wasnt running anymore. I almost got hit by a delivery man. i got a little over half way back when i realized i needed to practice.

The Music Building:

i went in and played my bass until about 12:45. and then some one stormed in and yelled at me because i was supposed to be out of the building at 12. so i walked back to my room.

completely surprised

it is always surprising when you realize that a good friend, that you thought thinks the same as you, comes out and completely disagrees with you.

ie i was just talking to a friend about the wall being built on the mexican border and i was under the impression that he thought the same as me. it is bullshit. and then out of no where he says that he is glad the wall is being built. and it scared the shit out of me and surprised me. but then he came out and said he was fucking with me and i laughed. (borders and immigration is one of my passionate subjects)

and when i came home a few weeks ago i found two magnets on the fridge. one was a support our troops ribbon thing. and the other was a god bless our troops ribbon thing. they have since been misplaced. i never thought my parents (who are pretty liberal left wingers) would fall into that bullshit propaganda
