TUESDAY VEGAN SPECIALS AT MARIE CATRIB'S
JULY 22, 2007 3:26 PM

Friends, it's true that every Tuesday at Marie Catrib's on Lake and Diamond (East Hills Center of the Universe) you can find amazing vegan specials on tap, crafted lovingly by Noodles. The first week's Sweet Potato and Chorizo Enchiladas with accompanying Tortilla Soup were spectacular, and last week's Chilled Udon Salad with Maple Ginger Wasabi dressing and Crumbled Tofu really just blew my mind. But coming up this week, folks, start gearing up for a Mediterranean Quiche for lunch and a Tofu Pomegranate Stew for dinner. The capper is a special Cupcake of the Day to satisfy the sweet tooth, and they will not disappoint. There is a catch, however; you will need to get there early because these stunning specials have been selling out each week. What fun! Let's celebrate vegan Tuesdays at Marie's by showing our support for great food, a great restaurant, and a perfect opportunity to support compassionate eating.

Splinters isn't kidding about the demand for these specials. I was there for the first week, and they sold out all 24 plates within a couple of hours. Luckily, we got there early and snagged four of them right off the bat. As for last week, there were calls coming in from people requesting to reserve the special so that it would be there when they got there. It's great to see people so excited about vegan cuisine in Grand Rapids!

Allow me to second splinters' call, as well, to get the vegan demand out in force for future offerings. For those of us who'd like to see more vegan items on menus throughout Grand Rapids, this is a great opportunity to get a buzz going about how excited we are to see one of GR's most successful restaurants taking a stand. Let's all help to make a bigger market for more compassionate choices!
