DOWN HOME COOKIN'
NOVEMBER 22, 2007 10:20 PM

Biscuits and Gravy. Bubble and Squeek.
This dazzling down home brunch is from a couple of weeks back, but as I was preparing today's Thanksgiving post, I stumbled onto the photo and couldn't resist putting it up. Bubble and squeek, for those who may not know, is a traditional Irish dish of potatoes and cabbage mashed together with salt and pepper and skillet fried into a pancake. Pile on the horseradish!

where are the recipes for this stuff?

Hey dude,
I think we got the bubble & squeek recipe from The Joy of Cooking. The biscuits are from Crescent Dragonwagon's Passionate Vegetarian (they are the best vegan biscuits I've ever had) and the gravy was an impromptu creation by curly (way to go, curly). If you don't have these cookbooks, you can probably check them out at your local library. Don't let the Dragonwagon name fool you - her cookbook is one I go back to often for super delish veg comfort food.
