more weddings

As of late, the only photos I'm taking have been at weddings. Last weekend was the sixth of the summer. Melissa and Cory had their reception on the top floor of the 5th 3rd building downtown (otherwise known as the University Club). Matt Poole played music perfectly fit for the Keeley Smidt dancing crowd. From Motown to Modest Mouse, he kept it accessible and up-beat. Not once did we chicken dance or electric shuffle.

fruit flies are nasty, so is the Bush administration (a not so subtle critique)

It was both the rotting bananas and the dirty dishes that did us in, so meagan made banana bread, and we instituted the NO DISH LEFT BEHIND policy. From inception, this policy is:

1) under-funded
2) under-staffed
3) and over-publicized

In addition, there will be instances in which we will not be physically able to comply. But I'll be damned if it doesn't look like we are trying to make strides towards keeping a cleaner household.

new life

Meg and are going to the Sufjan show tonight. Word on the street is he's playing 7 strong, and it's a great show.

That aside, this is what the ex-dynamite studio/gallery/project space looks like currently. Meagan and I have been working diligently to clean it up and paint the floor and walls.

We are interested in hosting quiet music shows, lectures, presentations, film screenings, discussions, music listening, and anything you may need from about 600 square feet of space minus two studio spaces, minus a bathroom. Call it an experimental cultural center, or an open-source idea mansion. Or maybe 613lyon. I'm not sure yet.

I've been telling people that I finally (after two years) feel comfortable working in my studio at 613 lyon. Reducing the clutter was a major factor, and a fresh coat of paint is huge, but the point is that I'm finally getting down to business and it feels great. This is the first personal project that I have worked on in ages. I'm not all talk.
