RUS 365: Another Mystery Solved
You're probably wondering what the heck that is... I was too when I scanned it at the library. First I laughed, then I felt uncomfortable, then I showed to everyone near me.
Tonight I decided to check it out and figure out what the hell it was all about. Here is what I found:
It was written by Viktor Pelevin, whose books "usually carry the outward conventions of the science fiction genre, but are used to construct involved, multi-layered postmodernist texts, fusing together elements of pop culture and esoteric philosophies." (wikipedia). So, that kind of explains the Pokemon...sort of.
Next I found out the book was titled, "Numbers". Which wasn't much help.
Finally, I found this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sacred-Book-Werewolf-Victor-Pelevin/dp/0571227988
Thanks to this guys review:
Pelevin at his best, 22 Feb 2006

I read this book in Russian and think it's Pelevin's best novel. The story is very original and "post-modern": the main character is a "New Russian" banker whose life revolves around the number 34. His girlfriend thinks she is the Pokémon Meowth and his hitmen are two Chechen brothers affiliated to a secret Sufi sect. Pelevin displays his amazing ability to blend social satire, mind-blowing action, and Russian mysticism. Moreover, the novel does not suffer from over-sophisticated metaphysics that characterized some of Pelevin's previous books (in particular, Buddha's Little Finger). A must read!

reminded me I never posted this:
I don't remember what I did with the penis-carrot. We might have fed it to the guinea pigs.
That is all.
